January 1, 2017 – Blue Bear Farms

Blue Bear Farm is a large scale urban gardening project located in Downtown Denver at the convention center. The project boasts over 5,000 sqare feet of growing area. The farm yeilds a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and beehives.

Project Overview

With Blue Bear Farms 5000 square feet of growing space, the project is projected to grow approximately 1600 pounds of fresh produce annually. Blue Bear is the largest urban farming operation at a convention center in the United States. The fresh produce grown at Blue Bear Farms is utilize by the the convention center's caterer, Centerplate, to offer fresh, locally grown food to convention attendees.

Services Provided

Produce Denver oversees all aspects of the Blue Bear Farm operations. Greenhouse management, soil testing, planting, garden upkeep, irrigation, pest control, mold control, and harvesting.

Produce Denver custom built 6 beds for our backyard. Nick filled the garden boxes with soil, hooked up irrigation, and even helped us put in our first round of veggies. We had Nick come back several times to help with mold and pest control issues. Hands down the most successful garden we have ever had.
